Agiofws: hello
Agiofws: i just installed the latest ati dricer and o get this
Agiofws: (EE) fglrx(0): firegl_SetSuspendResumeState FAILED -1003.
Agiofws: (II) Open ACPI successful (/var/run/acpid.socket)
Agiofws: (EE) fglrx(0): firegl_GetSuspendResumeState FAILED -1003.
starkmjolk: can anyone get a question oun of what Agiofws said? :) or was it just a statement? :)
ndim: agd5f: Wrong channel.
ndim: Argh.
ndim: agd5f: Sorry.
ndim: needs more coffeee.
ndim: hides.
libvde: starkmjolk: fglrx users should go to #ati anyway :)
_moep_: is it possible to use xvideo with the git version?
libvde: _moep_: yes, for rs6xx and r5xx
_moep_: only the git version?
libvde: yes, 1.2.1 is way too old for that
_moep_: i've got a x2600 card (should be r600)
_moep_: i've got a x2600 card (should be r630)
_moep_: libvde: should this work or not?
libvde: _moep_: nope, not yet
_moep_: :(
_moep_: http://mypaste.ja-s.de/1578 i tried to compile it and get this
_moep_: atm i'm reading the autoconf man
libvde: _moep_: install an SDK
libvde: read up at http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonhd
_moep_: i'm on this site but theres only ./autogen.sh
_moep_: ahh i see
_moep_: :D
ndim: _moep_: would you have looked into an INSTALL file to find the answer?
_moep_: ndim: yes.. but this but is at the end at the page ;)
_moep_: [VO_XV] It seems there is no Xvideo support for your video card available. :(
ndim: _moep_: I meant an INSTALL file in the source tree.
ndim: Right beside the README
_moep_: yes i did
ndim: Because the README already contains the information you were looking for.
ndim: And we do not have an INSTALL file with build instructions.
_moep_: i know it works :P
zhasha: Hello peeps
cxo: Xv doesnt work on my hd4870, is that to be expected?
adamk: cxo, Yes.
adamk: cxo, Well, actually, I'm not so sure about that...
adamk: It requires support for the DRM. The DRI driver does not work on anything newer than r500 cards, but I thought the DRM worked on r600, and perhaps r700 cards.
cxo: i have an nvidia card i could stick in, but i think that would just kill my poor 400watt psu, with 5 hard drives, a hd4870 and a 7600gs
cxo: ah wait i think i can use sdl to scale the video
Honk: use mplayer with -zoom ;p
cxo: you cant do that with -vo x11
Honk: of course you can
cxo: oh yes you can, sorry
cxo: but its ugly
Honk: that's the reason why the -zoom exists in the first place ;P
Honk: -zoom -sws 9
Honk: or anything else you like, really ;P
Honk: even the default isnt exactly ugly
cxo: why not sws 10
Honk: why?
Honk: bigger isnt better in this case =)
Honk: it's just a different algorithm
Honk: even the default isnt exactly ugly
cxo: for some reason using -zoom screws with gamma
starkmjolk: the randr things says rotation not supported on my rs780. is this expected? :)
starkmjolk: I'd like to get screen rotation, pivot is rather nice on my monitor from time to time
cxo: use mental rotation, might be slow, but should work
starkmjolk: :o
starkmjolk: I tried earlier, but got dizzy rather fast :P
cxo: gives starkmjolk a hit of his weed
starkmjolk: evince supports rotations of pdfs in itself, but then the mouse moves the wrong way :P
starkmjolk: cxo: that might make things more interesting, but not more productive I'd think. :P
cxo: i think monitors should be more advanced, and take the weight of some of these features off the video hardware
starkmjolk: sounds fair enough, although I'm sure not all will agree
starkmjolk: but for now, can xrandr and rotation and such be used with radeonhd?
cxo: radeonhd hmm i dont think so
cxo: but if you wait 10mins, i could find out
starkmjolk: I'll be here, and it would be very appreciated :)
cxo: ok brb, i just built radeonhd from git
cxo: so whats the magic command
cxo: xrandr --rotate right; just gives me usage info
starkmjolk: xrandr --orientation or -o I think
cxo: X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
cxo: Major opcode of failed request: 150 (RANDR)
cxo: Minor opcode of failed request: 2 (RRSetScreenConfig)
starkmjolk: same here :(
starkmjolk: no magic line in xorg.conf to help out or something like that?
cxo: not that i know of, i think it can be done in software though
cxo: try the vesa driver
starkmjolk: I have too much stuff running atm to switch, but I'll give it a shot later
starkmjolk: I know it worked with fglrx
cxo: i couldngt get fglrx to work
cxo: but i sorta hackered in xorg-1.3 into fedora9, so that might be a reason, though my hackered version worked for the nvidia driver
starkmjolk: ah, well I suppose this is the reason for radeonhd :)
starkmjolk: I couldn't get fglrx directly either atm, running intrepid alpha 5
cxo: yeah when i snap one day, my boys and i are doing a drive by at the ati office
cxo: they used to be one not too far from me, dont know if its still there, the one in Markham, Ontario
cxo: then phoronix can report "All ATi driver developers killed in drive by shooting"
starkmjolk: :o
cxo: hah, that would almost be funny
starkmjolk: Í'm sure they're doing their best out there, it just isn't good enough :P
starkmjolk: cxo: as far as funny drive by shootings, that one would probably take the prize :P
cxo: Only the losers whine about doing their best, the winners go home and fuk the prom queen
starkmjolk: anyway, we'll see what happens with my xrandr. now it's time for bed. good night everyone!
