gnoofoo: I can't seem to figure out what this means: IRQ's not enabled, falling back to busy waits: 2 16
gnoofoo: I get that when trying to launch an opengl program. I'm running pretty much up-to-date git versions of mesa, libdrm and radeonhd
airlied: its not something you can get rid off yet
gnoofoo: ok
gnoofoo: the program then gives "drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22" and exits
gnoofoo: oh, wait, one still needs a separate drm branch?
gnoofoo: hmm, no, it's been merged into master right?
gnoofoo: hmm, I see it apparantly hasn't :P
Hildezard: hey
diglam: Hi, I need help, I need to start X monitorless, I will make remote desktop connection via VNC but I am getting "(EE) RADEONHD(0): Failed to detect a connected monitor" and X doesn't start
diglam: any suggestion ?
twnqx: VNC on unix doesn't really work like this
twnqx: use Xvnc instead...
diglam: I am using x11vnc vith xf86-video-ati driver without anyproblem
diglam: but I want to use radeonhd driver couse of 3d support
twnqx: ... 3d support over vnc?
twnqx: also, x11vnc with a video driver? weird
twnqx: ah well
diglam: no just testing purpose
diglam: this is a htpc setup which will be connected to SD TV, but to test modelines I need a vnc connection
twnqx: mh
diglam: If I connect a montior X starts with radeonhd, but if not connected I am getting "(EE) RADEONHD(0): Failed to detect a connected monitor", So only I need some modification in xorg.conf to starts it monitorless, I think :)
twnqx: probably, but i can't help with that. sorry
marvin24_: diglam: why not using Xvnc?
diglam: x11vnc is like vnc on windows, I can run x11vnc just in middle of a X session than make a connection to that session
marvin24_: yes, but with Xvnc, you don't need a xserver at all
marvin24_: it is its own
diglam: yes, but I need a x session to run XBMC on it
diglam: not ?
marvin24_: it is not clear to me what you are trying to accomplish
diglam: ok, I will explain, I am tring to run XBMC with radeonhd driver, and connect that sessin to a SD TV via a VGA-Scart cable
marvin24_: and the graphics card does not detect the TV
ryoohki: anyone here?
MostAwesomeDude: Yes, but that's not what you wanted to ask.
yangman: chuckles
MostAwesomeDude: I mean, you probably have a question, and you wanted an answer.
MostAwesomeDude: So go ahead, ask the question, and then if anybody can answer, they will.
ryoohki: MostAwesomeDude: thanks
ryoohki: i have a radeon M960 x1200 chip on my laptop
ryoohki: mplayer is just aweful
ryoohki: if i use radeon driver i get what i expect from mplayer - good performance, but also system lockups or crashes
ryoohki: i switched to radeonhd but now the performance is aweful
ryoohki: also, the advice is to use "-vo x11" which, to my mind, means no accelerttion
ryoohki: this x1200 chip is in lots of laptops
yangman: radeonhd version?
yangman: and is EXA enabled?
ryoohki: i'm using the current fedora core 11 kernel 2.6.29.6-217.2.16.fc11.x86_64 and this driver xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.5-2.10.20090714git.fc11.x86_64
yangman: pastebin your Xorg.0.log please
ryoohki: i'll add "Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"" and "Option "DRI" "True""
ryoohki: is that in /tmp?
yangman: /var/log/
ryoohki: yangman: ok
ryoohki: yangman: thanks!
ryoohki: http://pastebin.com/m693f9f7b
ryoohki: isn't there a x command to send a text file to the paste buffer?
yangman: don't know
yangman: does EXA make things any better?
ryoohki: yangman: i have to logout, brb( i'nm using irssi on a remote screen session so it won't look like i'm gone).
ryoohki: i'm back
ryoohki: i'll play a video now
ryoohki: better but still not good
ryoohki: under fc8 using ati's driver mplayer worked great
ryoohki: the ati driver is dropped in fc11
ryoohki: also, glxgears was aroung 300fps but is now around 220fps
yangman: does xvinfo say Textured Video?
ryoohki: Adaptor #0: "RadeonHD Textured Video"
ryoohki: is that what you wanted?
ryoohki: i prefer 2d acceleration and not 3d if i must make a choice because i watch a lot of videos
yangman: you are getting accelerated Xv
ryoohki: ok
ryoohki: i think i prefer that
yangman: well, you should have 3D as well
ryoohki: yes, but i never use it
ryoohki: when using the overlay with the ati driver, i use Xv and not GL
yangman: there is no overlay support for r5xx
yangman: Xv is going to textured video
ryoohki: what does "textured video" mean?
ryoohki: i just want hard aceel for video playing so it is smooth
yangman: what's the actual problem?
yangman: slow frame rate? tearing?
ryoohki: both
ryoohki: especailly the frame rate
ryoohki: i just used vlc on the same video and my x window session crashed
ryoohki: i little bit of audio, screen goes black and i'm back at the gdm login screen
yangman: pastebin the X log from the bad session
ryoohki: http://pastebin.com/m523ec2d6
ryoohki: "xsel < /var/log/Xorg.0.log" worked for cut and paste
ryoohki: hello?
yangman: ryoohki: everything in the log looks fine. not sure if there's anything else that can be done
ryoohki: yangman: thanks! it may need the .30 kernel
ryoohki: yangman: thanks! you helped a lot!!!!!
ryoohki: any advice on what to do with this error? "[AO_ALSA] Unable to find simple control 'PCM',0."
ryoohki: it from when i use "9" or "0" to raise or lower the audio volume
ryoohki: thanks for the help
