Nightwulf|work: hi all
g-zu: wow man, topic since libv was still working on this
|moe|: hi. i am running opensuse 11.1 x86_64 with latest radeonhd- and xorg-driver/server. am experiencing flashing/flickering and malformed colors every now and then. should i attach screenshots to a bug-report
g-zu: I'm not sure how you can screenshot flashing but you can try
|moe|: not the flashing but the cga-like coloration for example could be screenshotable - though it is bound to the actual window - activating another window resets color back to normal
yangman: GPU? is it when running specific apps, or just in general? whole screen or just a specific window?
|moe|: yangman: it is on various and not clearly specifiable apps (e.g. all gtk or kde) - it's almost random - plus it is only bound to that window than but regardless if the window is minimized or windowed or else it is always affecting the whole screen to corrupt colors
|moe|: happens only when 3d-effects are activated
yangman: GPU?
|moe|: ATI Radeon Xpress 1250
yangman: sounds like a compositing bug
yangman: file a bug. screenshots would help also
|moe|: great, will do so - any workaround idea to give the devs a hint?
|moe|: like try xrender instead od
|moe|: of opengl , sorry typo
yangman: I'm not familiar with the compositing stuff, unfortunately. I don't use it
|moe|: i like the glossy stuff :D
|moe|: i'll try xrender and if it doesn't work file a bug giving both errors
|moe|: problem does not occur with xrender at all
legume: I've noticed a few of these getting logged when I run hd - [drm:radeon_cp_indirect] *ERROR* sending pending buffer 24
legume: TBH I usually run radeon, so can't really say when it started, JUL 17 is the first time in the logs, which possibly corresponds to first radeonhd + agd5f DRM
legume: At first I thought they happened when coming out of DPMS, but yesterday I got a couple while browsing/changing metacity workspaces and they did cause some corruption.
agd5f: legume: weird. I haven't seen that one before
legume: agd5f: Yea, strange, I've never seen them with radeon and that is what I usually use.
legume: agd5f: Another possibility, the dates fit quite well with me running a 2.6.28.8, I'll try reverting to running a 2.6.26 + hd + your drm tomorrow.
libv: yangman: congrats!
yangman: libv: thanks :)
