Nightwulf|work: hi all
udovdh: hello
lucxxx: is some one here
lucxxx: i need some help with git://anongit.freedesktop.org/~agd5f/drm tree
lucxxx: i diid a clone today
lucxxx: and i can't buildit
Obscene_CNN: agd5f, might be able to help you lucxxx . Be patient
agd5f: lucxxx: what's the problem?
lucxxx: when i type make
lucxxx: it says that is no Makefile
lucxxx: and a did clone twice
Obscene_CNN: does he need to run autogen or something ?
lucxxx: i dont think so
lucxxx: i have an old tree
lucxxx: wich works without configure
lucxxx: or autogen
lucxxx: i think something is wrong with drm tree
lucxxx: here is an example from an tutorial wich is on forum
lucxxx: cd drm && sudo make install && cd linux-core && make DRM_MODULES="radeon"
yangman: you need to run autogen for libdrm
yangman: linux-core doesn't need it
lucxxx: it works
Obscene_CNN: cheers
lucxxx: :))
Joy: how does one make radeonhd use a monitor on VGA_1 which doesn't identify via EDID?
Joy: my TV is apparently broken
Joy: i can't get it to identify its modes most of the time, and i can't get radeonhd to ignore the fact that it sees VGA_1 as "disconnected"
Zajec: Joy: i belive we don't use EDID to determine if something is connected to connector
Joy: Zajec: ok, so is there any way to force output to the VGA port?
MostAwesomeDude: Joy: You'll need to use --addmode in xrandr.
Joy: the obnoxious ATI Windows driver does it
Joy: MostAwesomeDude: is that the Modeline entering thing?
Zajec: MostAwesomeDude: will that work if driver sees connector as disconnected?
MostAwesomeDude: Joy: Yep.
Joy: same question
MostAwesomeDude: Zajec: Yeah, xrandr can force connectors on.
Zajec: oh, didn't know that
MostAwesomeDude: Dunno if rhd supports it, but it should.
Zajec: good to know
Joy: ooh, let's see.
Joy: % xrandr --addmode VGA_1 1360x768
Joy: X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request: 148 (RANDR) Minor opcode of failed request: 18 () Serial number of failed request: 16 Current serial number in output stream: 17
Joy: doesn't work for 1024x768 either
Joy: any idea?
Zajec: Joy: use cvt first
Zajec: for generating mode
agd5f: Joy: you'll need to specify a 1360x768 modeusing --newmode
MostAwesomeDude: Joy: Is it listed in the modes table? You might have to do --newmode first.
MostAwesomeDude: XD
MostAwesomeDude: Too many cooks.
Joy: oh, i just read the cmdline help which indicated that i may be able to use a default mode
Zajec: Joy: see this comment for guide: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15648#c1
Joy: guess not :)
Joy: i should be able to find the default modeline-like definition somehwere...
Joy: % grep Modeline\ .1360x /var/log/Xorg.0.log | sort -u
Joy: (II) RADEONHD(0): Modeline "1360x768"x59.8 84.75 1360 1432 1568 1776 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync (47.7 kHz)
Joy: (II) RADEONHD(0): Modeline "1360x768"x60.0 85.50 1360 1424 1536 1792 768 771 777 795 +hsync +vsync (47.7 kHz)
Joy: goes for the 60 Hz one
Joy: omg, it works
MostAwesomeDude: Woot.
Joy: now how do i switch to xinerama
Joy: reads
Joy: % xrandr --output VGA_1 --left-of PANEL
Joy: xrandr: screen cannot be larger than 2560x2560 (desired size 2640x800)
Joy: heh, --above and --below work
Joy: can i adjust that max screen size somewhere
Zajec: Joy: google for xorg.conf and virtual
Joy: oh, that?
Zajec: or google for error you got
Joy: won't it ignore that because of RandR?
Joy: maybe it just ignores the Monitor sections, not Screen sections
Joy: zajec: heh, first google hit points to you being answered exactly that :)
Joy: oh and the obvious question - is there any way to get the --addmode magic integrated into a xorg.conf serverlayout?
Joy: radeonhd(4) doesn't seem to think so
Joy: okay, this is a bit unreliable, i get various results when i shut down and restart X and then try --newmode, --addmode again
Joy: and doing a mplayer -vo sdl foo.mpg on the secondary made both screens revert to 640x480 :)
Joy: -vo x11 doesn't allow full-screening, and -vo xv didn't work at all
Joy: though -vo gl seems to work
Joy: hm, but slow. what am i supposed to use?
Zajec: Joy: sdl? don't know how does it work
Zajec: Joy: you should use Xv
Zajec: Joy: i think you didn't post that info... what is your card?
Joy: xv didn't work, let me try agian
Joy: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series
Joy: VIDEO: MPEG1 320x240 (aspect 1) 25.000 fps 0.0 kbps ( 0.0 kbyte/s)
Joy: [VO_XV] It seems there is no Xvideo support for your video card available.
Joy: % xvinfo
Joy: X-Video Extension version 2.2
Joy: screen #0 no adaptors present
Joy: am i missing something?
yangman: Joy: Xv on r6xx needs drm from 2.6.30 kernel
Joy: ow
Joy: ok
Joy: i'm hoping iwlagn won't stop working with .30 like it did with .29
Joy: it's an endless maze of dependencies these newish laptops :/
Obscene_CNN: OT (but still great) http://britneyspears.ac/lasers.htm
