hellsing: hi
buggs: hoi
buggs: As far as i understand the ati driver works but is not better than vesa for a hd 4850?
frojnd: Hello there.
frojnd: I've just installed ati-fglrxG01-kmp-pae x11-video-fglrxG01 after I've enabled ati's repo. Will this effect any my current xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd.
tulcod: buggs: radeonhd does not yet support the 4850
tulcod: buggs: you'll be wanting to use video-ati instead, or just fglrx
buggs: that's what i meant by ati driver
buggs: the fglrx driver just crashes my linux
buggs: :/
buggs: does it work for anyone on x86_64?
buggs: and to rephrase my first question is video-ati providing anything that vesa does not?
gentoofu: not right now
gentoofu: i don't think r6xx docs are even out yet
buggs: so the phoronix news is much ado about nothing, though so ;)
lupine_85: 4850 is r700 :D
lupine_85: and radeonhd gives you accelerated 3D with r500, which is quite impressive if you ask me
Fuddl: is there any other information source beyond this #, the radeonhd- and DRI-ML about progress of mesa/DRM support for R600 class GPUs? i'm very interested in that, since i have a RV635 based card :)
Fuddl: ... oh i forgot: yes, i'm already pulling the git repositories of radeonhd and mesa nearly every day ;)
dmb: #radeon also
Fuddl: ok, thanks! [x] added to default room list
lupine_85: Fuddl: I await news on progress, also, but I doubt there'll be much public until the docs are released
Fuddl: lupine_85: oh you're right, i forgot that only the R600 ISA documentation had been released, yet *selfslap*
Goga777: will be some improvement for hd video ?
Fuddl: hm, from http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=20080604185939.GA27106%40suse.de&forum_name=dri-devel one could guess, that he could have received a preview of the documentation?
lupine_85: well, it's been available under NDA, AIUI
Fuddl: uhm, may i ask what's "AIUI"?
lupine_85: as i understand it
Fuddl: ah ok
lupine_85: apt-get install bsdgames; wtf is AIUI
Fuddl: indeed, you're right ;)
