_Krieger_: i`m using linux. i have slow 2d redraw in Xorg. Using xf86-video-radeonhd. any solutions?
libv: _Krieger_: what hardware, what acceleration are you using?
_Krieger_: http://pastebin.org/36124
drac: _Krieger_: Should likely run 'update-pciids' as root to update the 'lspci' output..
_Krieger_: reload a paste, i corrected it
libv: RHD_DEVICE_MATCH( 0x94C3, RHD_RV610 ), /* Radeon HD 2400 Pro */
libv: _Krieger_: is this a pci-express card?
_Krieger_: yes
libv: ok... you should be using shadowfb already
libv: this is as fast as it gets nowadays
libv: there is no acceleration for r6xx and up yet
libv: bleh, i have the fix for the vt restore issue sitting here now, but nowhere to push it... i hope the fd.o server comes back soon
the-me: libv, past it to me! :))
libv: i guess the best thing is to mail it to the ml and let those who are around play with it already
libv: so, yes, the-me, you'll have it in a bit :)
libv: the-me: sent btw :)
the-me: uh: http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonhd => Internal Server Error
libv: yeah, most of fd.o is down currently
libv: what are you looking for?
the-me: for your message. I don't recieve the ML :)
libv: ah, ok
libv: your email address is?
the-me: libv, patrick.matthaei@web.de
shadowgoth: hi, does the radeonhd driver support a radeon X1600 pro?
shadowgoth: the wiki page gives me an internal error
the-me: shadowgoth, yes it does
shadowgoth: the-me: ok thanks :)
shadowgoth: will try
shadowgoth: ok I got the radeonhd driver to boot, but glxinfo says I don't have direct rendering. Is this normal? I have no errors in xorg.log
tulcod: shadowgoth: probably
tulcod: shadowgoth: there's little to now direct rendering support
tulcod: shadowgoth: hwich version are you using?
shadowgoth: tulcod: Using Xorg 1.4.99, and radeonhd-1.2.1-2008-04-29
tulcod: shadowgoth: try git
shadowgoth: tulcod: it's git according to the package name
tulcod: eh, no.
tulcod: shadowgoth: plus, even if it would be, it'd be outdated
shadowgoth: 1.1.20080429git.fc9
shadowgoth: tulcod: do you think I should try something even newer?
tulcod: shadowgoth: i'm not saying you shoudl do anything, if you want DRI & 3D you should just use fglrx
shadowgoth: tulcod: hm, ok.. I thought I can get farther with opensource :)
tulcod: shadowgoth: sure, if you can wait ;)
shadowgoth: tulcod: I waited a year for aiglx in fglrx, then I still can't get it working...
shadowgoth: tulcod: but that's my problem, thanks for the help :)
Joe22: Hi, I'm using radeonhd 1.2.1-2 (Debian): When I set "AccelMethod" to "exa" it's very slow, "xaa" is better but not good. I receive the best results with "shadowfb"
Joe22: My Card is a RV530 (X1600)
Joe22: that's quite strange, isn't it?
yangman: Joe22: no
yangman: hardware acceleration isn't at a competitive state with pure software rendering yet
yangman: it's generally recommended people stick with shadowfb for now, unless they've got good reasons to do otherwise
Joe22: yangman: Ah, ok. I didn't know that. Thanks.
reca: hello
reca: due to wiki outage, does anyone know, how I can avoid flickering (and loss of signal) on my second screen if I'm using radeonhd?
reca: .oO( m76 chipset)
libvde: the-me: forwarded it just now, sorry for the delay
libvde: the-me: you really should consider getting onto the ml :)
