udovdh: question:
udovdh: a friend of mine has this log: http://keetweej.vanheusden.com/~folkert/Xorg.0.log
udovdh: and his Asus EAH3450 card does not go into 1920x1200 on analog out
udovdh: but remains in 1280x768
udovdh: any idea what could be wrong?
tulcod: udovdh: no modeline for that?
udovdh: log is incomplete yes
udovdh: I sent him my xorg.conf and asked to try with xrandr
udovdh: waiting for reply from him
udovdh: the card is supported (rv620 I saw)
udovdh: but can 1920x1200 work on analog?
tulcod: udovdh: ltic, not on S-video
udovdh: ?
udovdh: via normal vga analog out
tulcod: udovdh: but i'm on 1280x1024 on D-sub (via DVI-I->D-sub converte)
udovdh: I am on 16xx x 1050 via dvi-d
udovdh: but it's his situation: can that highres stuff go on analog?
tulcod: udovdh: you mean D-sub right?
tulcod: cause "analog" is quite a wide subject
udovdh: http://www.electronicsshowplace.com/images/isimages/DH100505141.jpg
udovdh: so must be via a DVI connector and adapter I guess
udovdh: (http://images.google.nl/images?hl=en&q=EAH3450%20&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi)
udovdh: hmmm: http://img.directcanada.com/images/ASUS/EAH3450_HTP_256M/EAH3450_HTP_256M_3.jpg
tulcod: udovdh: according to the ubuntu forums, it works with fglrx
udovdh: and should work on radeonhd
udovdh: if the log were more complete we'd be able to say more
udovdh: hmm. gnome overrides the resolution he found out...
udovdh: so problem solved
udovdh: another happy radeonhd user... :-]
tulcod: udovdh: argh, shitty gnome
tulcod: i mean,i'm using it too, but sometimes it's worse than windows
udovdh: well, at least you can set a preference
udovdh: yes
udovdh: not everything works in gnome/redhat whatever
udovdh: like metacity
udovdh: and keyboard remapping
udovdh: http://codesnippets.joyent.com/posts/show/268
udovdh: doesn't work here
udovdh: same for manually defining the 'extra' buttons on the 'internet' logitsch keyboard
udovdh: you *must* use the applet
udovdh: can't do it in gconf
MaximLevitsky: Is there any progress in R6xxx documents ?
MaximLevitsky: When to exepect them, did AMD say anyting about that after R200 docs release?
Remosi: from what I've seen (which I admit isn't much), they just sorta turn up when AMD are ready.
MaximLevitsky: So I guess no news then
agd5f: MaximLevitsky: I'm working on them.
MaximLevitsky: Great to hear that
lupine_85: are the r500 3D acceleration docs of any use for r600 3D acceleration?
airlied: lupine_85: no
lupine_85: thought as much
lupine_85: dispiritedly boots his HD3650
lupine_85: spiritedly boots his internet connection
Arrow: Hi all
mattst88: hi
Arrow: I just loaded 1.2.1 from a debian 'sid' repository.. I have a 3870x2 board 'rv780' and all I seem to get is a bunch of bars and stuff and a largish immovable 'x' cursor
Arrow: I'm running kubuntu hardy rc
Arrow: tyhe ubuntu repositories only have 1.1
Arrow: it tries a couple of times and pops out into a bunch of xserver text lines and hangs there
Arrow: sound familiar?
Arrow: mattst88 hey
mattst88: I've never seen anything like that, though my only experience with radeonhd is using it on an alphaserver
Arrow: nods
Arrow: oh and it's the amd64 flavor
Arrow: the 'exact' files is 1.2.1-2
bridgman: Maxim, lupine: as Alex said, the 500 docs themselves don't help much with 6xx but
bridgman: getting them out first helped to clear the way for 6xx doc release. All the work
bridgman: being done on 5xx 3d now is also helping to get the mesa & drm code more solid
bridgman: so we can use it as a basis for 6xx work. The hw changes going to 6xx are a lot
bridgman: bigger than 5xx but we should have a lot of the obstacles out of the way as well.
Arrow: anyome else try running 1.2.1 with a 3870x2?
bridgman: Arrow, I just noticed that you mentioned both a 3870x2 (rv670) and 'rv780'... is there
bridgman: any chance you are running the 3870x2 plugged into an rs780-based motherboard ? If so,
bridgman: the driver might be finding the graphics hardware in the 780 first and enabling
bridgman: that rather than a GPU on your 3870x2
