pireau: glxgears gives me "unknown chip id 0x71c3, can't guess."
pireau: and then reverts to software rendering... I'm using the current git version of radeonhd, agpgart and nvidia-agp is loaded (since i have a nForce 2 based board).
airlied: you need a newer mesa
pireau: mesa-7.0.3 isn't good enough ?
pireau: oops, should of read radeon:DRI first :S
pireau: 27444 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5488.644 FPS
pireau: that's more like it.
pireau: thanks airlied
obst: does the radeonhd driver allow rotation of screens?
MostAwesomeDude: obst: Yes, I believe so.
obst: MostAwesomeDude, thanks! Is it also possible with dual-head so one screen can be rotated, the other not and everything with 3d acceleration ? :)
yangman: obst: 3D's only available on r5xx. otherwise, just try it
alvinator: guys need help
alvinator: I just installed radeon drivers using jockey
alvinator: but it seems that playing videos is still choppy on my system =/
alvinator: can anyone give me the proper xorg.conf?
rehabdoll: whats jockey?
alvinator: it's a built-in utility to enable proprietary drivers in ubuntu
Zajec: alvinator: so do you mean radeonhd or fglrx?
alvinator: I haven't tried radeonhd yet
alvinator: jockey and envy installed fglrx for me
rehabdoll: ask in #ati regarding fglrx
alvinator: I tried both but still the same. Compiz doesn't want to work also
alvinator: alright will do
alvinator: thanks
Neo_The_Ninja: ...thats a long IP. lol
ram_m: Hi All: Need some advice. I have a monitor (DVI and HDMI available along with VGA). Motherboard has onboard 3300 ATI chipset (790GX board). I am using ubuntu jaunty. When I set the monitor to powersave (after 5 minutes), monitor goes black but does not actuall turn off (or go to standby). What could be the reason. I have tried radeonhd earlier, but I am using catalyst driver that comes with ubuntu.
yangman: does `xset dpms force off` turn the monitor off?
yangman: gnome-screensaver also has a minimum 1-minute delay between screensaver kicking in and monitor being put to sleep
ram_m: yangman: that xset command turns the screen blank. But, I can see the backlight still on.
yangman: fglrx or radeonhd?
ram_m: My monitor's power indicator does not change to slow blink (which it does on my other computer) to indicate it is in standby.
ram_m: yangman: I have set the screensaver to 3 minutes and poweroff to 5 minutes.
ram_m: yangman: I am currently using fglrx.
ram_m: I have tried hdmi also, exact same problem. It does not really turn off (just screen looks blank).
yangman: you'll have to ask about fglrx in #ati dpms should work for radeonhd and radeon, though
ram_m: thank you. I will ask there.
l3iggs: can anyone tell me if it is possible to get any hardware acceleration at all working with my R580 in ubuntu jaunty?
agd5f: l3iggs: should work out of the box
l3iggs: it does not
l3iggs: please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/342899
l3iggs: unless a fix was released in the last week
