Nightwulf|work: hi all
trunks222: hey can i ask a question about the radeonhd driver
trunks222: i migrated to archlinux and i would like to use the opensource driver with my ati radeon 3870 but i cant seem to get compiz to run on it
trunks222: hmm
trunks222: noone here?
Obscene_CNN: be patient
honk: there's no 3d acceleration yet
trunks222: oh there isnt... my mistake then i thought it was in the 1.2.4 driver
trunks222: but i dont need 3d accelartion to just start compiz do i?
airlied: yes
trunks222: ok sorry to bother u guys then... bangs head on desk*
honk: there's 3d support for anything up to r500
honk: your card is r600 though ;)
trunks222: yeah i knew that :)
trunks222: i thought dri support was enough for compiz though
trunks222: maybe i should switch to openbox then
honk: I see =)
TomasuDlrrp: I'm having a strange problem with the radeonhd drivers in git with my HD 3200 (gigabyte ma78gm-s2h 780g board) I get: RADEONHD(0): Failed to detect a connected monitor
TomasuDlrrp: with Option "HPD" "off" in my device section X starts up, but the screen is blank
TomasuDlrrp: im using the VGA port btw
TomasuDlrrp: correction, my screen isnt blank, it disables the vga output, so my monitor goes to sleep
TomasuDlrrp: is there a way to force it to see the vga connector as connected?
TomasuDlrrp: is there no way to force it?
honk: looks like noone's around who's got a clue ;p
TomasuDlrrp: heh, managed to hack rhd_driver.c to pretend Detect succeded, and it inits now. so I'm happy.
TomasuDlrrp: oh, not Detect, but Sense
dublisk: hey, I've been trying to get my ati 4670 card working with suse. I tried the 1-click install but keep getting a white screen, and then the next time I try to boot into suse, I get a black screen and it never actually fully loads suse at all. I am forced to reinstall suse completely. Should I try radeonHD?
dublisk: I just want something fast enough so that there is no flicker when scrolling or moving windows...
jorgen: I think the programmers are good at doing the hard stuff to fix a opensource RadeonHD driver, but is it ready in the end of the year or so or next year ?
jorgen: I mean the R600/R700 bit
