paul`: hi
paul`: I just upgraded to Hardy Heron
paul`: and now my radeonhd driver doesn't work :-(
paul`:
paul`: (EE) module ABI major version (1) doesn't match the server's version (2)
paul`: (EE) Failed to load module "radeonhd" (module requirement mismatch, 0)
paul`: (EE) No drivers available.
paul`: I'm confused
paul`: I did do a make clean; configure; make; make install
paul`: am I missing something obvious?
paul`:
paul`:
paul`: hi
paul`: I was here this morning
paul`: I had upgraded to hardy heron and my radeonhd had stopped working
paul`: I could fix this by moving the libraries from /usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/drivers to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers
paul`: however, now I'm noticing that the monitor on the right is waaay too white
paul`: I've switched the monitor cables, and now the one on the left is way too bright
paul`: twiddling with the monitor settings doesn't really improve it
Rys: It'll be a gamma issue on the 2nd output
Rys: Not sure how that's fixed though
paul`: some shades show up as just white
paul`: other shades work just fine
paul`: before I upgraded to Hardy, after running xrandr the monitor on the right would always be corrupted
paul`: I had to log out to gdm and log back again and run xrandr again to get a workable screen
paul`: now xrandr works OK the first time, except the colors on the right are wrong
paul`: $ xgamma
paul`: -> Red 1.000, Green 1.000, Blue 1.000
paul`: changing the gamma to 0.5 does make the shade that was blue in the left monitor (now right) but white in the right monitor (now left)
paul`: but how do I change the gamma for just one of the outputs?
paul`: also, setting the gamma too low makes the text almost unreadable in the left monitor
paul`: the xorg.0.log says
paul`: (II) RADEONHD(0): Gamma: 2.20
ineti: Hi
ineti: I got big problems with radeonhd 1.2 ubuntu hardy and my rs690 chipset
Death_Syn: ineti: could ya be more specific?
ineti: i updated to radeonhd 1.2.1 from to source everything works fine...i have my 37" LCD TV connected via dvi to my rs690...when i start the xserver a just get a black screen...but no freezes the same thing with the radeon driver. fglrx works but has no Xv
ineti: the log file seems fine....it looks like the driver can't get the right resolution
ineti: the lcd tv has a hdmi prt so i used an hdmi<-> dvi to get it to the pc's dvi port
ineti: adapter
Death_Syn: hmm
ciaranm: ineti: what does xrandr -q think is attached?
ineti: i would use fglrx if Xv would be supported...but i read this will probably never be the case with the rs690
ciaranm: ineti: and rhd_conntest?
ineti: iam currently using the fglrx driver
ciaranm: xv isn't supported with radeonhd either
ineti: ok how about radeon?
ineti: i thionk radeon and radeonhd have the same problem with my rs690 because the black screen apperas with both
Saist: possibly dumb question, but have you used dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg to force a lower resolution?
ineti: no
Saist: okay : if you can get graphics in Vesa, or get to a text prompt, force a lower resolution than what you intend to use.
Saist: that may answer whether or not it's a resolution problem
