ihze: greetings :) quick question. I'm about to get the GA-MA78 gigabyte mainboard with the 780G chipset and i was wondering wether or not the unified video decoder is supported by radeonHD or any other ati related driver since i'd like to watch my hd movies without overclocking the cpu
emmes: ihze: short answer: no
ihze: that's rather unfortunate :(
ihze: is it expected to be supported by upcoming driver releases or is this one of the things linux users will never have access to?
emmes: it's expected (note: not 100% sure) to be supported at some point in the future, but when this will be the case is still 100% unknown
werdz: does fglrx not support the UVD? it's evil and proprietory and all that, but still
emmes: all hardware is proprietory
emmes: if you let opencpu aside
emmes: ah, you meant fglrx
emmes: no idea about that driver
ihze: thanks. i expect that even overclocked it's still gonna consume less power than my current system
emmes: but then, there is neither an API nor a media player supporting hardware based h264 decoding, so this is rather meaningless at the moment
egbert: rmh3093: i would like to look into your hdmi on dvi problem as it might give us a clue on some of the other things we see.
egbert: would you have time to look into this with me?
Zhenech: libv, http://www.golem.de/0804/58874.html - have phun :)
tigerchen: Zhenech: wow, only nvidia missing ?
Zhenech: looks like, yeah
metalth: Zhenech: that's great information indeed
udovdh: quite a few updates...
udovdh: danke schoen!
tigerchen: is the backlight-patch included in the current git?
