tigerchen: hey there, any progress atm or just working in your little dark rooms, eating pizza and drinking coke?
egbert: tigerchen: yeah, i did have pizza today :p
tigerchen: ^^
Death_Syn: mmm pizza
egbert: no coke though. need to loose weight again.
tigerchen: i can recommend weightwatchers, $gf lost ~20kg with their programm
egbert: tigerchen: i don't have to loose that much!
egbert: tigerchen: i did loose that much a while ago - without weight watchers :p
tigerchen: well, it's easier to calculate with points than calories
tigerchen: and one doesn't really have to go to the meetings and pay them money at all ^^
egbert: tigerchen: i didn't calculate at all. just ate less moved more.
tigerchen: that's good
udovdh: hello
tigerchen: hey udo
udovdh: I want to gain about 10KG
udovdh: can I do that with weightwatchers too?
whit0r: egbert, thats the trick. but its best if you eat bits and bits throughout the day.
tigerchen: *turns away to radeon*
udovdh: any updates, btw?
whit0r: udovdh, you can have my 10kg.
egbert: udovdh: is this the reason why we didn't see you on fosdem (ie that you were so slim)?
udovdh: maybe.
marcheu: egbert: joking on slim people should be forbidden
udovdh: my bmi is near impossible
udovdh: skinny & proud
egbert: marcheu: yaeh, yeah!
whit0r: nothing's impossibl.e
whit0r: not even missions from missions impossible! ~lol @ me
udovdh: 15.7 or so
udovdh: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmi-m.htm
egbert: whit0r: eating bits and bits throughout the day can be counterproductive. you easily loose track.
marcheu: udovdh: you're worse than me \o/
marcheu: hmm, although that probably qualifies for anorexy
udovdh: me?
udovdh: no.
udovdh: I do not give up my food
udovdh: eat thrice a day, feel ok, not depressive, etc
marcheu: cause I'm at 17.5, which is often considered the anorexia limit
Death_Syn: shares some of his fat with marcheu
marcheu: Death_Syn: I think udovdh needs it :)
Death_Syn: that's fine. I have plenty to go around
Death_Syn: :)
slackern: bounces around with his 22.9 BMI :P
tigerchen: 's bathroom scales are broken, last time i watched it was something round 70
tigerchen: kg on 1,83
slackern: 171cm and 67kg here, such a big boy :)
whit0r: Death_Syn: I'm 188cm and 130kg
udovdh: btw
udovdh: what license, exactly, is radeonhd under?
libv: udovdh: mit, pure mit
libv: udovdh: even our disclaimer is proper
udovdh: ah ok, thanks
udovdh: was just wondering after reading COPYING
marcheu: all X.Org video drivers are MIT, except avivo :)
matteo: it's mit as the massachusets inst. of tech?
libv: says proper "authors and copyright holders"
marcheu: yeah it's the MIT license :)
marcheu: from the institute of the same name
libv: not "luc verhaegen, because he wants his name mentioned here once more, for no good reason whatsoever"
matteo: has it any restrictions over GPL?
matteo: or any unrestrictions?
libv: glisse: btw... i wanted to email you this, but it fell off my plate
marcheu: libv: actually I think nouveau has a couple of files saying "in no even shall VIA..." because I copy/pasted from via and they changed it
libv: glisse: you recently commited code where you disclaimed precision insight
marcheu: sounds like another copy/paste-o :)
libv: marcheu: i think i was two years into unichrome before i stumbled over that one :)
udovdh: gpls is more protective than mit I guess?
libv: got it worked out with VIA though, and once you stumble over it, one kind of keeps track of it :)
libv: marcheu: it really is the cancer of X tbh
marcheu: libv: what, bad licensing headers ?
marcheu: I hope not :)
libv: i think a large portion of the licensing headers are just not mit but something similar to mit with some appendages or whatever
libv: and the others which are supposedly mit need to this thing with the disclaimer
marcheu: yeah well the liability clauses could be annoying if someone sues
libv: well, i don't personally worry about legal issues there, it's just an eyesore and irritating once you start noticing that it is there
libv: it's like people saying virii and trailing whitespace and suchlike... you can either just ignore it, or you can be a pedantic git and have it worry you :)
libv: marcheu: and given that you're a bit of an anorexic, i guess this sort of thing really stresses you out :ppp
marcheu: I am so totally not :)
libv: sure :p
libv: mr super skinny :p
libv: nah, you're one of those climbing persons... they always look as if they could use another sandwich or something
libv: i on the other hand, have a hard time to get under 25 bmi
marcheu: you should start climbing :)
libv: i'm currently nowhere near it, and the cycling i've been doing in the past few weeks just put me away further from it
libv: marcheu: i have someone in the office here nagging about that too :)
LOE-irssi: Hi guys.
dacm: Are there any known issues with dual-head on an HD2400Pro with radronhd 1.1?
dacm: Because I can't get it to work. :-)
dacm: It seems to work at the GDM login screen (except that the wrong monitor is used) but once I log in the DVI-I monitor stops getting a signal.
CornedBee: Isn't the 2400 the one with the DDIA chip?
dacm: doesn't know what a DDIA chip is.. :-S
CornedBee: hm, I seem to be wrong
CornedBee: anyway, 1.1 is quite old now
CornedBee: considering that the driver is in constant development
CornedBee: you might want to give the development version a try
dacm: Is there a newer version released?
dacm: Or just the git code?
dacm: The impression I get is that 1.1 _should_ work.
CornedBee: no newer version than 1.1 released, no
dacm: http://rafb.net/p/j30gdy99.txt <= My xorg.conf and log. Don't suppose you can see any obvious mistakes?
dacm: The wird thing is that it's the default monitor that doesn't display.
dacm: weird even
dacm: The VGA monitor works and the DVI-I doesn't. Yet I have RROutputOrder set to the DVI-I MONITOR.
dacm: ooh seems I was using RROutputOrder incorrectly. That issue is now fixed. (I think the wiki was a bit confusing!) But I still don't have dual-head!
dacm-irssi: Everything seems to work until I login through GDM.
dacm-irssi: Anyone lost displays on li
dacm-irssi: Anyone lost displays on login before?
Zhenech: dacm, are you using gnome?
dacm: Zhenech: Yes.
Zhenech: any setting like "use only one monitor" out there
Zhenech: I bet gnome turns the screen off via xrandr or such
Zhenech: or tries to push it to some mode the monitor dislike
dacm: Hmm, I can't think why my gnome would be set up to do that. I don't suppose you know which conf file a setting like that would be in?
Zhenech: not using gnome
Zhenech: but heard of behavior like that before
Zhenech: (reduced resolution after login)
dacm: But yeah I guess it's quite likely that the remaining issue it gnomes' fault.. Odd though.
Zhenech: possibly just create a new user and login with him
dacm: That might be an idea.
dacm: Zhenech: Many thanks. You were right. The dual-head works for the new user!
dacm: God only knows how I'm going to de-cripple this user though.. :-)
Zhenech: punch gnome long enough
Zhenech: sometime it will give up
dacm: :-)
Zhenech: if not, try xfce and start loving it
dacm: heh
dacm: Right time to see if I fixed it..
dacm-irssi: Apparently not. :-(
glisse: libv: where did i put precision insight ? :)
libv: i think in some drm code, not sure anymore
glisse: i will grep
glisse: definitly a cut & paste things
glisse: wonders from where i may have cut this
libv: sure, this always is a cut & paste thing
dacm-irssi: In a dual-head configuration, is there some requirement that both heads have the same refresh rate?
dacm-irssi: Because my dual-head only seems to work whne they're the same. When I turn the refresh rate up on my LCD (through gnome) my CRT turns off!
dacm-irssi: And is there a way to manually set the refresh rate in Xorg.conf?
Zhenech: dacm-irssi, tried changing the rate through xrandr
Zhenech: without gnome?
dacm-irssi: Zhenech: not yet
dacm-irssi: In the example dual-head config on the wiki.. does that use standard X multihead or does it something clever on the card?
Zhenech: points up to some conversation about gnome being dumb
Zhenech: it should be defaul xrandr multi
Zhenech: lemme look
Zhenech: you mean like http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonhd#head-b4abfb1970c58a8fef1a1d6d368422d5f1205b36
dacm-irssi: No I meant like sections 9.6 and 10.
Zhenech: nods, that what I meant
Zhenech: dis is xorg standard
Zhenech: looks same on my radeon 7000 with xf86-video-ati
dacm-irssi: Hmm, it seems quite different from when I last had dual-head working. (An Nvidia card but using standard X multihead.)
dacm-irssi: When I change desktops on one screen the desktop is changed on the other too. I didn't used to have that.
Zhenech: it's one big screen
Zhenech: not two separate
dacm-irssi: (Btw, changing the refresh rate through xrandr didn't produce any errors but it's also hard to tell if it did anything. :-) )
dacm-irssi: Zhenech: Yes. I'm pretty sure that the last time I used dual-head it wasn't like that..
dacm-irssi: oh well
dacm-irssi: Zhenech: Thanks for all the help!
Zhenech: :)
dacm-irssi: runs off to eat..
Zhenech: dacm-irssi, I think there was a thread on the ml about separate screen
Zhenech: dacm-irssi, look at this mail:
Zhenech: From: Fredrik Jonson
Zhenech: Subject: [radeonhd] Dual head configuration
Zhenech: Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2008 09:33:55 +0200
Zhenech: and matthias' answer
tigerchen: egbert: got time next monday? I'll be in darmstadt and will have about 4h time (or more (up to 7)if you are willing to come to me ^^)
MedozasSVR: hi guys ... got one question ... i have a pretty new system running here with a phenom and a rv670 (radeon hd 3870 from gigabyte) - driver used: 1.1.0_080327_1623f86 (by build service from suse) ... so far i can just say: it works great - have 2d running blazing fast without problems (in dual head mode) - now the questions: are there any possibilities helping the radeonhd project?
MedozasSVR: its just a shame that using the most current fglrx (cat 8.3) my system just simply crashes, thats why I ask
MedozasSVR: it would be great to see radeonhd to get up with 3d as soon as possible
tulcod: MedozasSVR: I understood it should be ready in 3 months
tulcod: MedozasSVR: 3d support, that is
tulcod: for the 3000 series
MedozasSVR: because of opening of specs by amd, you mean?
tulcod: MedozasSVR: and... I think giving extended bug reports and cleaning stuff up would be great for the team
tulcod: MedozasSVR: just try and find bugs, fix them, submit a patch for them
MedozasSVR: well thats ok ... so far there just are none ;) which area should be tested in your opinions?
tulcod: MedozasSVR: checkout git and see if that works for you
MedozasSVR: alright
tulcod: MedozasSVR: try every weird small feature in the package
tulcod: and do backtraces once stuff statrs to fail
MedozasSVR: alright
MedozasSVR: is strace enough for that?
tulcod: MedozasSVR: I don't really know, it depends on where the problem lies
tulcod: MedozasSVR: but... generally a gdb backtrace would be best, but I don't think that's an option here
MedozasSVR: hm .. thought so .. haven't been playing round with gdb yet ... but that should be a good practice
MedozasSVR: where you have the information of 3D support in 3 months for the 3000 series?
tulcod: MedozasSVR: most important think, get the git version and see if it works for you
tulcod: and report whether it works
tulcod: MedozasSVR: I spoke with bridgman yesterday
MedozasSVR: reporting here in irc enough?
tulcod: MedozasSVR: I don't think so. isn't tehre a bugzilla/
tulcod: but ima go get some sleep
MedozasSVR: me too
tulcod: ask some more guys around here
tulcod: gl :)
MedozasSVR: good night
