codingrobot: glxgears shows ~550fps on radeonhd 4200 with the latest git driver, is it supposed to be that slow?! the 'radeon' driver shows the same performance
yangman: codingrobot: 3D is handled by Mesa, not the xorg drivers
codingrobot: yangman: so, where should i look for the cause of the problem or is it actually possible to get a better performance (i just need to run XBMC)?!
yangman: not sure what version of mesa the support is in
yangman: you should ask #radeon. it's more active
codingrobot: ok, so the radeonhd driver with my hardware shouldn't be the problem
sohalt: i finally found out why Xorg gets 100 % cpu usage and becomes unusable after some time (usually hours)
sohalt: it is neither caused by the kernel, nor by libdrm, nor by radeonhd
sohalt: i got the idea to open the computer after this happened and touched the card
sohalt: i could use it for cooking something...
sohalt: this also explains why the problem occurs earlier when doing much with opengl
