Nightwulf|work: hi all
rahman: Hi it seems the latest commits to drm-r6xx-r7xx broke something. (EE) RADEONHD(0): [dri] CP_INIT failed here Xorg.0.log : http://pastebin.ca/S:1364110
rahman: Oops wrong adress http://pastebin.ca/1364110
rahman: Btw, its hd3200 igp
agd5f: rahman: can you pastebin your dmesg for the failure
rahman: agd5f: jsut a minute
rahman: the error is : [drm:r600_do_init_cp] *ERROR* Need gart offset from userspace
agd5f: rahman: are you usng an old ddx?
rahman: agd5f: its latest master git.
agd5f: rahman: you're using 1.2.4 accoridng to your log
agd5f: (II) RADEONHD: version 1.2.4, built from dist of git branch master, commit 4e897263
rahman: agd5f: not possible. Let me check if the package manager updated the ddx itself
rahman: agd5f: nope its git version: from Xorg.0.log (II) RADEONHD: version 1.2.4, built from dist of git branch master, commit 4e897263
agd5f: rahman: no it's not: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-radeonhd/commit/?id=4e897263
rahman: agd5f: I don't get it. Whats wrong?
agd5f: rahman: somehow you installed an old ddx
rahman: git fetch && git pull says its up-to-date
agd5f: did you set the prefix correctly?
agd5f: you might be installing to /usr/local
rahman: yes ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr && make && make install
rahman: I reinstalled it let me reboot
rahman: agd5f: you are right, its working now. But I don't understand where the old one came. It can't be via package manager as it installs oficial 1.2.4 one not from a git verison. Thanks anyway
agd5f: rahman: np
loki_666: i'm sill having the issue with xrandr when adding a custom modeline to the output
loki_666: im on rs780 output is hdmi
bridgman: nanonyme; once the driver gets into a Ubuntu publicly visible repository I think it's OK; we just like to discourage beta leaks 'cause that means someone is violating their NDA
bridgman: I'm making the assumption that we are working with Ubuntu on this but that's a pretty safe bet
masa-: any idead why alt + Fx key combinations now drop me to VT instead of switching desktop?
masa-: after enabling hal USE flag in xorg-server
masa-: or more precisely after upgrading to new xorg-server with hal stuff added
masa-: everything worked when HAL did not work == start
masa-: after i fixed HAL so it could start, i first got every key press 3 times, then i fixed the xorg.conf and hal .fdi file and now i have the correct layout but alt + Fx combinations drop me from GNome to VT
Toksyuryel: Is the HD3200 r6xx or r7xx?
Honk: does it matter though? support for both is pretty much the same ;P
MostAwesomeDude: Well, there are differences, but in 2D and 3D code all the differences can be abstracted away.
Toksyuryel: well I presume r6xx will probably have full support sooner than r7xx will
MostAwesomeDude: I can't think of any major differences which would cause that.
Toksyuryel: I see
Toksyuryel: well the mobo I'm looking at has an HD3200 IGB
masa-: wasn't it like r7xx with r6xx 3D engine or something?
agd5f: masa-: yeah, the igp chips are kind of a mix. rs780 (HD3100/3200/3300) are basically dce 3.0 display and rv610 3D
Toksyuryel: I see
Toksyuryel: so that's what I'm looking at then?
paran: Toksyuryel: I have a hd3200, accelerated 2d and xv works fine with radeonhd from git.
Toksyuryel: how's the 3d?
Toksyuryel: so no warzone2100? :(
MostAwesomeDude: Gotta use fglrx for now.
dyek_: Hi! I often have window focus problems on my Dell desktop (Radeon) and Dell notebook computers. I just did xev on the focus window and when I focus the window again, I get FocusIn event with NotifyWhileGrabbed. Could this be a video driver issue? Is there a way I can break the grab in Xorg?
dyek_: As it is now, my keyboard focus appears to be at a 1x1 window and I can't see the keyboard focus on the focus window. I get only a cursor outline and can't input from the keyboard.
MostAwesomeDude: dyek_: It's not a video card issue. Ask in #xorg.
dyek_: MostAwesomeDude: OK. Thanks for the reply!
matteo: hi all
matteo: (EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/r600_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/r600_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
matteo: is this library important?
matteo: it works like a charm even without
da1l6: no 3D for r600 yet, thats what it means.
matteo: I haven't that lib
matteo: i have to compile it
da1l6: you would have to code it first ;)
davidjheinrich: can anyone help me get my resolutio to 2048x1536 using xrandr?
da1l6: davidjheinrich: error message? xrandr -q?
da1l6: use pastebin
davidjheinrich: where's pastebin?
da1l6: what driver and version, btw?
davidjheinrich: I just posted it under http://pastebin.com/d30479cb4
davidjheinrich: I have the current devel version of the radeonhd driver...randr 1.2
da1l6: the last two modes are manuelly added modeline?
da1l6: the framebuffer size seems to be 1360 x 1360, try adding "Virtual 2048 2048" to your xorg conf (see wiki page for details)
davidjheinrich: yes, I added the last 2 manually
da1l6: try the Virtual size stuff and paste your xorg.conf.
davidjheinrich: thanks, I'll try that later
tretle: anyone there
tretle: I have an ati x1400 and Im currently using opensorce ati drivers, I can get glxgears running but when I move the window around the gears being rendered inside of the gtk window leave a print on the screen. I have been using nvidia cards for a long time now and using ati is new to me, let along having an open source driver render 3d :D Would this glxgears problem be fixed with dri2, also I tried running radeonhd on the laptop earlier today and didnt get an
agd5f: tretle: are you using compiz?
tretle: with radeon yes
agd5f: tretle: 3D and compiz don't mix at the moment
agd5f: it's being worked on. requires dri2
legume: agd5f: AGP gart fix seems to work OK on ati but not on radeonhd
legume: agd5f: it fixed an xv CPU usage issue I had as well - this does work on both drivers, but x11 video CPU usage and upload/download corruptions still persist with radeonhd
davidjheinrich: in xorg.conf, does it hurt if the value for HorizSync is in quotes?
davidjheinrich: i.e., is this fine under the monitor section: HorizSync "30-137kHz"
