muri_one: when I use any kind of fragment shader my app slows to a crawl on my r500 card. Is this to be expected?
muri_one: this page being linked to in the wiki http://wiki.x.org/wiki/RadeonFeature no longer applies to the radeonhd driver
muri_one: Is there a new page equivalent to it?
MostAwesomeDude: muri_one: Shaders are part of Mesa.
MostAwesomeDude: By "shaders," you mean GLSL, right?
MostAwesomeDude: I think GLSL's currently falling back to software right now.
muri_one: MostAwesomeDude: oh. thanks. yes I meant glsl. so by shader support does that page refer to the features of ARB_fragment_program and ARB_vertex_program?
MostAwesomeDude: Well, it's talking about the actual hardware shaders.
MostAwesomeDude: But yeah, practically, it's ARB_fp and ARB_vp.
MostAwesomeDude: GLSL's not too tough to hook up, but most GLSL users expect things like flow control and such, which are either nerfed or just non-existent on r300.
muri_one: makes sense. thanks fore the awesome response, awesome dude. I usually don't have much luck on irc
tmoertel_work: Anyone know how I can get DRI working when I'm told "(WW) RADEONHD(0): Direct rendering is not supported when VGA arb is necessary for the device"?
tmoertel_work: (Kernel mode setting is disabled.)
defre: I plan to buy a laptop with a radeonhd chipset (the best would be a 4850). Does it work well with the radeonhd driver ? (eventually the driver from trunk if not too unstable)
udovdh: I can only vouch for the rv630/635 chips
udovdh: like on hd2600* cards: no real issues. works well
brbrbr: warmly greets everyone
