Nightwulf|work: hi all
manitu: marvin24, did not help.. now my plasma crashed and then all lagged and some hundred of this messages "(WW) RADEONHD(0): DRMCPIdle: DRM CP IDLE returned BUSY!".. not it normalized, no more spam and no more lag at the moment
manitu: and crashed again.. and also some more messages :(
marvin24: manitu: sorry for that - have you ever tried the radeon driver?
manitu: marvin24, i think the graphicchip is just supported by radeonhd.. but i try to update my kde now, too.. maybe its a kde bug.. found out that the message appears when i open the list of stacked windows(if i got 3 firefox windows opened and in the list i can choose one of them.. if i open it the message appears 2 times)
marvin24: manitu: it may be related to 3d, but there is some interaction with 2d and 3d, because they try to feed the same "command pipe", which can cause missunderstandings ...
marvin24: I think radeon does not have this issue - anyway, it would be nice if you can post a bug report to bugs.freedesktop.org
manitu: marvin24, so it have to be kde related.. i just use filezilla, netbeans, pgadmin and kde-tools :/
manitu: and i don't think filezilla, netbeans or pgadmin uses any 3d things
manitu: but i updated now to newest kde(its a release candidate, but why not :p), if the problem is still there i will report a bug there
adamk: manitu: FYI, there are no graphics cards supports by *just* radeonhd.
manitu: adamk, kk
marvin24: it's not a problem of kde, but of the 2d driver
marvin24: maybe kde used some 3d functions which cause problems
udovdh: http://www.radeonhd.org/?page=archive_display&c=radeonhd&m=10&y=2008&d=2008-10-29 ?
udovdh: (for the drm cp idle)
udovdh: try git...

jimenez: ?
udovdh: what chip is that?
udovdh: RV530 ?
jimenez: yes
udovdh: so should work
jimenez: http://pastie.org/773758
udovdh: http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonhd#head-cc89624fd96105127892119323e209b3d80e137d
jimenez: but is not i only get a black screen
jimenez: :(
udovdh: WW) AllowEmptyInput is on, devices using drivers 'kbd', 'mouse' or 'vmmouse' will be disabled.
udovdh: that needs fixing as well
udovdh: hmm
udovdh: can you ssh into that box?
udovdh: what would xrandr say?
jimenez: hmm
jimenez: i cant
jimenez: this is my lappy
udovdh: hmm
jimenez: let me switch to the console and change the driver and nopaste the log
udovdh: well... hmm
udovdh: the allowempty input thing needs to be fixed
udovdh: or else you can't use the dekstop you'll get
udovdh: either by adjusting the kernel
udovdh: or my editing xorg.conf
udovdh: (my old xorg crashed when I used the AllowEmpty setting)
udovdh: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=522936
udovdh: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=522936#c37
udovdh: taht should fix the AllowEmpty thing
udovdh: btw: git radeonhd?
jimenez: here is
jimenez: http://pastie.org/773779
jimenez: udovdh, ^
udovdh: checking..
udovdh: Modeline "1280x800" is correct?
udovdh: EE) RADEONHD(0): RHDMCSetupFBLocation: Cannot setup MC: not idle!!!
udovdh: I think you need a dev
udovdh: or else file a bug at bugs.freedesktop.org
udovdh: (if this reproducible that is)
jimenez: the rwe
jimenez: yes is reproducible
udovdh: it is radeonhd git btw?
udovdh: recent enough at least
udovdh: I see.
jimenez: the resolution is ok and the version of the drv is 1.3.0
jimenez: with the radeon driver is working fine 3d kms X
jimenez: let me try compilling from git
udovdh: that could help, no guarantee
jimenez: ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr --enable-dri is ok ?
udovdh: euhm...
udovdh: lemme see
udovdh: I just do ./autogen.sh
udovdh: make
udovdh: and the copy it over to the right spot
jimenez: k
jimenez: /bin/sh /usr/src/pkgs/xf86-video-radeonhd/xf86-video-radeonhd/./shave-libtool '/bin/sh ../libtool' --mode=install /bin/install -c radeonhd_drv.la '/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers'
jimenez: :)
udovdh: .la?
udovdh: I just copy the so
udovdh: cp radeonhd_drv.so /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/
jimenez: well is working i think
jimenez: http://pastie.org/773806
udovdh: hmm..
udovdh: got light?
udovdh: i.e.: picture on screen?
jimenez: ?
jimenez: im on X now
jimenez: on xchat
udovdh: ok
udovdh: yes, couldn't see
udovdh: cool
udovdh: so git solves your issue
jimenez: yes
jimenez: and 3d is working
jimenez: but is a bit more slower
udovdh: so it is not yet accellerated?
udovdh: http://turqee.tumblr.com/post/230394871/dri2-for-radeon-r600-700-chipsets-on-ubuntu-9-10
udovdh: see that for a howto for mesa
jimenez: yes it is
udovdh: you need latest
udovdh: it is?
jimenez: i have
udovdh: check the howto to be sure
udovdh: oh
udovdh: so why is it slow? how did you check?
jimenez: http://pastie.org/773813
udovdh: version looks good, so should work yes
jimenez: on radeon glxgears give me 1600 and with hd only 600
jimenez: fps...
jimenez: i know glxgears is not a bench app but it shows something
udovdh: hmm weird
udovdh: on my rv635 I get more
udovdh: but the system is a bit more powerfull than the laptop I guess
udovdh: maybe ask a dev here about the reasons for the slowdown
jimenez: os[Linux 2.6.32-ARCH i686] distro[ArchLinux] cpu[2 x Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz (GenuineIntel) @ 1.66GHz] mem[Physical: 1008.4MB, 79.9% free] disk[Total: 36.7GB, 53.0% free] video[ATI Technologies Inc M56P [Radeon Mobility X1600]] sound[HDA-Intel - HDA Intel]
jimenez: let me use other kernel
udovdh: 2.6.32 is recent enough?
jimenez: i think
jimenez: yes
jimenez: i lost the 3d with kms
jimenez: hmm
jimenez: direct rendering: No (If you want to find out why, try setting LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose)
marvin24: no kms support for rhd ...
udovdh: jimenez, I have 3d without kms
udovdh: working!
udovdh: on rv635
jimenez: hmm
udovdh: I built mesa from the howto url I pasted
udovdh: used `head`
udovdh: and voila
udovdh: stellarium works, neverputt works, foobilliard...
udovdh: etc
udovdh: and?
