rbmorse: Please excuse me if this is common knowledge, but does radeonhd work with x-server 1.4? Kernel version 2.6.24-3?
glisse: rbmorse: i don't see why it shouldn't
rbmorse: I'm trying to get it going on the Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha-3 and not having much fun.
libv: rbmorse: what is going wrong?
rbmorse: glisse: Ok. Thanks. I'll go back and try it again...see if I can find what I'm doing wrong.
rbmorse: Livv: Xserver won't start if xrog.conf has "radeonhd" as the driver. Goes to fail-safe. Same file with "vesa" works fine.
libv: rbmorse: what does the log tell you?
libv: heh, sounds like ubuntu
libv: ubuntu is making it pretty tough for people to debug stuff
rbmorse: libv: Dunno. The fail-safe eats the log and the backup. Now that I know it should work, next time I'll pull the plug when I see that the server won't start and see if I can get some useful info from the log.
glisse: rbmorse: disable failsafe into gdm.conf
rbmorse: glisse: Or...do that. Thanks.
rbmorse: bbl
rbmorse: Hi there. Me again.
rbmorse: I'm some sort of idiot. In followup to my earlier question, I reloaded the Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha-3 from scratch, and the radeonhd driver loads flawlessly. No idea what the problem was before.
rbmorse: From git.
libvde: well, as long as the problem is solved :)
rbmorse: Yep. That's my feeling, too. Thanks to all who helped.
rmh3093: libv, hey! whats new
soc: ^i second that
soc: :-)
egbert: hey guys, you are really pushy :p
Temujin_: are we there yet?
ryanpg: been running radeonhd on a ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series] for about a week now... can't thing of a single problem/issue! Thanks all!
ryanpg: Is there a hardware database or something I should be testing? I'd be happy to contribute.
libvde: ryanpg: great :) Let's hope it stays that way :)
ryanpg: libv, hi, yeah I'm actually quite impressed with the stability
ryanpg: suspend/resume works fine, vt switching etc.
libvde: right, but we have no acceleration of any sort yet
libvde: so there is still plenty of opportunity to mess things up :)
ryanpg: libvde, we talked about acceleration about a week ago :)
ryanpg: I'm keeping an eye on gitweb
