mikkoc: drm modules don't compile with 2.6.26-rc7
mikkoc: it's fine with -rc6
mikkoc: here's the error: http://zlin.dk/p/?M2EwYWI1
airlied: mikkoc: need to use true/false now.
mikkoc: me?
airlied: mikkoc: well I need to fix the drm to use true/false :)
mikkoc: ah ok :P
mikkoc: i just thought reporting here was faster than bugs.f-d.org
airlied: mikkoc: just fixing it now,
mikkoc: nice
mikkoc: can anyone take a look: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=17260 and http://zlin.dk/p/?NjRlZTE4.txt please?
mikkoc: is this bad?
mikkoc: Mesa warning: couldn't open libtxc_dxtn.so, software DXTn compression/decompression unavailable
stefanb: Hmm, does xorg/xserver contain a copy of the complete mesa source code?
stefanb: I just tried to compile xserver against latest mesa git master and get an linker error
airlied: stefanb: no it doesn't contain it.
stefanb: e.g. ../../GL/mesa/.libs/libGLcore.a(shader_api.o): In function `_mesa_get_uniform_location':
stefanb: /home/stefanb2/rpm/BUILD/xorg-server-20080612/GL/mesa/shader/shader_api.c:938: undefined reference to `_mesa_lookup_uniform'
stefanb: but it copies it from mesa-source right?
airlied: stefanb: yes it'll take it from mesa-source
airlied: stefanb: in theorty it doesn't do that anymore with master
airlied: is that Fedora, I hope I didn't screw up server vs mesa.
stefanb: So I guess latest mesa git is somewhat screwed up: it compiles by itself, but xserver can't be compiled with it
stefanb: airlied: Fedora 9
stefanb: airlied: libdrm git master, mesa git master, I'm trying to rebuild latest xorg-x11-server SRPM
airlied: stefanb: that probably won't work alright.
airlied: some files moved around in mesa I think.
airlied: so the X server src needs updating
stefanb: that might be it... I haven't tried rebuilding xserver after mesa reorganization
airlied: the -35 mesa build should be a recent snapshot.. so something chan ged since.
airlied: or else I messed up the build :)
stefanb: I use libdrm-2.4.0-0.13.fc9.src.rpm and mesa-7.1-0.33.fc9.src.rpm as base to compile git masters
stefanb: I just comment out upstreamed patches from the SRPMs
stefanb: Seems like the xserver mesa build doesn't build all necessary files
stefanb: ../../GL/mesa/shader/prog_uniform.c is not build -> functions in there are missing
stefanb: airlied: Do you have an idea which part of the build generates the Makefile.am in that directory?
stefanb: airlied: ahh they are delivered as source in the xorg-server archive. So I guess the xerver git Makefile.am's need updates
stefanb: airlied: Trying patch for Makefile.am right now...
stefanb: airlied: xorg-x11-server SRPM builds again with that patch. Do you want it to put the change into xserver git?
airlied: stefanb: it probably needs to go into the 1.5 branch.
airlied: stefanb: ajax might be interested.
airlied: bbl.
stefanb: BBL
the-me: Hello, I wanted to try out dri with the current radeon git master but it doesn't work, the only error messages I get is: unknown chip id 0x71c6, can't guess.\n libGL warning: 3D driver returned no fbconfigs. - I've gt a Sapphire radeon X1650pro
glisse: the-me: you need xserver from git too
the-me: hm I've got 1.4.1~git20080517
glisse: the-me: too old
the-me: will 1.4.2 be enough or has it to be newer?
glisse: the-me: 4.5
glisse: 1.5
glisse: from git
glisse: not the 1.4 branch
stefanb1: FYI: xserver 1.4.99 doesn't compile with latest mesa git anymore.
bgoglin: glisse: why does he need xserver 1.5 ? isn't git radeon and mesa master enough ?
glisse: bgoglin: glx visual config change
glisse: means you need lastest glx bits from xserver & mesa
glisse: but you can backport driver to older mesa
glisse: i am not sure about the glx visual change but lately there have been a lot of them
bgoglin: ok
glisse: hopefully now we should be all set
mikkoc: please someone, is this bad?
mikkoc: Mesa warning: couldn't open libtxc_dxtn.so, software DXTn compression/decompression unavailable
mikkoc: how do i fix? i googled around, but it seems that shouldn't happen with mesa from git
tilman: http://homepage.hispeed.ch/rscheidegger/dri_experimental/s3tc_index.html
mikkoc: right
mikkoc: which is what i found
mikkoc: This patch no longer exists. It has been merged into Mesa CVS, so there no longer is a need to patch the graphic driver.
tilman: you still need the library
mikkoc: uhm
mikkoc: how come i've never had this issue before? :S
mikkoc: also r300 isn't mentioned.. only r200
tilman: that page is ancient
tilman: the r300 driver is supported as well anyway
mikkoc: ok
mikkoc: so i just get the last one
mikkoc: hmm
onestone: how many pipes should a x1400 have?
Tetraboy2: It's purdy.
damentz: what's the eta on sidux 2008-02?
damentz: preview 1 has been out for quite a while
damentz: i'm guessing then we're just waiting for debian sid to stabilize
drac: sid to stabilize?
drac: "still in development" branch, which never becomes a release to stabilize? ;-)
SymbianDJ: Hey people.. was wondering if someone could help me out with my open source radeon drivers.. i just installed them and configured them.. but needed help with running compiz on it
airlied: SymbianDJ: what card? you may need a new server for r500s.
SymbianDJ: nope.. its the older r300
airlied: SymbianDJ: ah it should run with most distros now.
Tetraboy2: I managed to get KDE running with multiple monitors on my R420.
Tetraboy2: Actually, was pretty easy once I found out about xrandr.
SymbianDJ: is there any way to force compiz into running ?
airlied: SymbianDJ: what error is it giving?
airlied: or how are you running it?
scobby: hi everyone
SymbianDJ: well i try the default ubuntu way of basic effects. it gives a message saying "Desktop effects could not be enabled"
scobby: i cant change resolution with ctrl+alt++ or ctrl+alt+-
scobby: how can i fix it?
airlied: SymbianDJ: sounds like the blacklist.
airlied: scobby: I think it went away.
SymbianDJ: i checked to see if direct rendering was on and if the driver is installed properly. it seems to be installed alright
airlied: SymbianDJ: umbongo has some blacklist for compiz somewher.
SymbianDJ: airlied: the thing is compiz works on fglrx
airlied: SymbianDJ: yes as I said a blacklist
airlied: SymbianDJ: you'll need to ask an ubuntu person where its hidden.
airlied: you can try manually doing LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=y compiz.real --replace glib gconf
airlied: and it might work
airlied: easier to remove the r300 from the blacklist if you can find it
SymbianDJ: so i need to find the file on my comp.. which has a blacklist.. ?
airlied: SymbianDJ: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=582112
SymbianDJ: well i don't get that message..
airlied: SymbianDJ: oh then it might be something else, have you completely remove fglrx.
airlied: as sometimes it hangs about :)
SymbianDJ: yes i removed fglrx.
SymbianDJ: i have mesa.. but m pretty sure i'm using radeon
SymbianDJ: glxinfo says "sgi".. i think that's the one to confirm radeon ?
airlied: SymbianDJ: then I've no idea try running compiz manually and see what happens.
SymbianDJ: i was just wndering how do i force run compiz ?
airlied: you can try manually doing LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=y compiz.real --replace glib gconf
SymbianDJ: thanks airlied
