mcgreg: oops sry
MostAwesomeDude: XD
damentz_: hey airlied, i'm running latest git of radeon
damentz_: and i turned on dynamic clocks
damentz_: but if i leave my laptop to idle for like an hour or so and come back
damentz_: the screen freezes and gets corrupt
damentz_: and the system is unresponsive
damentz_: it happens everytime
damentz_: i came back from work and i move the touchpad to turn on the screen
damentz_: and it renders like one frame
damentz_: and then the laptop freezes
airlied: damentz_: ouch only with dynamic clcoks on?
MostAwesomeDude: damentz_: Which card?
airlied: well compiz on no-tcl r100 works ... no clues there..
airlied: clutching at straws ftl.
airlied: woot think I've found the cause of the problem, now to bash the solution
GerbilSoft: i'm having a problem with the radeon driver (FireGL V5200) - occasionally when i have an Xv application running like mplayer or vlc, if i drag a window around, X freezes up
GerbilSoft: sound's still working, but keyboard input is ignored and the mouse pointer jumps around
GerbilSoft: the only way to fix it is a hard shut down
airlied: GerbilSoft: hmm gpu crash..
airlied: GerbilSoft: probably worth logging a bug.. you using latest git?
airlied: woot fixed compiz on rs690
airlied: and rs580
airlied: 480 even
GerbilSoft: yeah, that Xv bug just hit again
airlied: GerbilSoft: are you dragging the movie player or another window
airlied: ?
GerbilSoft: another window on top of the movie player
airlied: the gpu crashes..
GerbilSoft: yeah that's what i suspected
GerbilSoft: here was the scenario just then
GerbilSoft: i have a 2x 1600x1200 setup (thinkpad LCD with CRT on the left)
GerbilSoft: mplayer running full screen on the CRT
airlied: GerbilSoft: oh yeah that could be !fun .. not sure how well the clipping code works.
GerbilSoft: openoffice decided to start on the CRT, so i dragged it to the LCD
GerbilSoft: that's when it crapped out again
GerbilSoft: this has also happened without the CRT connected
airlied: can you log a bug?
GerbilSoft: sure
GerbilSoft: doing some classwork right now, so it won't be for an hour or so
airlied: does dragging an xterm do it? or just openofrfice?
GerbilSoft: i kinda don't want to find out right now :D
GerbilSoft: but i'm pretty sure it happened with other programs besides openoffice
airlied: cool.
GerbilSoft: FYI: if i ping out, either i knocked out the network cable (need to get a new one that has a clip) or the bug hit again
spstarr: airlied: how is nose? airlied anyone else reporting DRI locking issues when you enable/disable composite (using KDE's kwin window manager?)
airlied: spstarr: nose is annoying but fine :)
spstarr: :-)
airlied: spstarr: haven't seen much on KDE composite reports.
airlied: does KDE use OpenGL?
spstarr: yup
spstarr: two types: OpenGL or XRender default is OpenGL
spstarr: OpenGL mode: TFP, SHM or fallback
spstarr: if i enable or disable it sometimes the disk will start writing kernel log entries but if im not ssh'd in i wont see the DRI lock errors
GerbilSoft: hm
GerbilSoft: oodraw just started on the CRT (over mplayer)
GerbilSoft: closing oodraw did *not* trigger the bug
