pkt: airlied: did you get to play with AGP cards last week as you said ?
pkt: I am asking because suspend to ram is still broken in latest Fedora Snapshot
pkt: (for me at least)
airlied: pkt: well it "resumed" for me, just had all garbled pixmaps :(
airlied: but it was easter and I did easter things
pkt: oh, easter was earlier for you :) of course :)
pkt: unfortunately it just hangs for me on resume
nanonyme: airlied: Easter holidays stopped for you already?
pkt: and the most puzzling thing is that I got the exact same sources with same config and compiled in my ubuntu system
pkt: and there the hang doesn't happen so I can resume successfully if I add some vbestate restore magic
airlied: nanonyme: nope back to work tomorrow
nanonyme: Right right. Same as here then.
airlied: pkt: I think it might be an irq issue
airlied: someone reported a bug if the wireless was going stuff was worse.
nanonyme: You're doing work on holidays? :/
nanonyme: Puzzling, I thought it was only us students.
airlied: am just idling on the couch.
pkt: hmm, an irq issue would explain it I guess
pkt: I can not even suspend if any usb device is detected (it hangs during suspend)
airlied: hmm we turn of the irqs like we should by the looks of it
airlied: unless we have a race
airlied: might need to clear them all
pkt: it could be
pkt: A race issue would explain why with fedora's compiler it hangs while with ubuntu's it doesn't
pkt: or could it be a gcc-4.4 bug/incompatibility I wonder
nanonyme: Can the people with DRI2 support already run Compiz in a nice fashion? :)
adamk: nanonyme, Works here.
nanonyme: adamk: And Xv works?
adamk: Not sure I tried that.
nanonyme: That's afaik one of the interesting things about DRI2.
nanonyme: Xv should work under Compiz.
nanonyme: Even on Cube surfaces.
adamk: It works fine on DRi1
glisse: nanonyme: i don't see the point in watching a video on the cube ;)
adamk: If you use the texture video Xv port(s)
nanonyme: glisse: You're right. :) It makes kinky technology demos though.
nanonyme: Oh, maybe I got the wrong impression actually.
nanonyme: *shrug*
nanonyme: I thought direct rendering on redirected surfaces would require DRI2.
nanonyme: (And that it would include Xv on rotating cube)
adamk: Not when using textured video. The overlay never worked properly with compiz, and I doubt DRI2 changes that.
nanonyme: I think my wrong impression originated here now that I look back my browser history http://hoegsberg.blogspot.com/2008/03/i-just-committed-last-bit-of-dri2-work.html
adamk: He does talk about textured video in there, but it has never required DRI2 to work... Or, if it did, it only required it briefly.
nanonyme: Right.
nanonyme: What's the main use case of DRI2 then?
glisse: nanonyme: glxgears on the cube ?
adamk: Or just using opengl applications at the same time as compiz without having rendering issues.
nanonyme: Hmm.
glisse: adamk: is their others gl applications than glxgears ? :d
nanonyme: adamk: Meaning Compiz would stop causing issues for programs like Wine?
adamk: nanonyme, Correct.
adamk: glisse, lol
adamk: glisse, Blender and glxgears. That's what I use :-)
dmb: glisse, question, that gpu reset code, is that supposed to help recover from lockups?
glisse: that what it does
glisse: same code won't work in old drm
glisse: old drm as too many path messing with the hw
dmb: oh
soreau: nanonyme: Worksforme on f11 beta rawhide agp radeon 9600, though 3d and xv video are transparent while rotating cube here http://omploader.org/vMWlwNw
nanonyme: soreau: Did you specifically tune the cube to look like that or is that a bug?
nanonyme: Oh.
nanonyme: Wait a minute, which window manager is that? :D
soreau: compiz of course
nanonyme: Hmm, I suppose I meant the desktop environment. I asked since I just realized you don't seem to have a desktop.
soreau: How do you mean?
nanonyme: Well, everything but the windows in your cube seem to be black.
soreau: There's no skydome and reflection is turned off..
nanonyme: Hmmhmm...
nanonyme: So tuned to be like that then.
nanonyme: Looks confusing to me. :)
pkt: soreau: does suspend to RAM work for you ?
soreau: I have not tested that
pkt: is your system a laptop?
soreau: Since this is a desktop, I usually just leave it going
pkt: oh, I see
soreau: But I could..
pkt: I get a weird lockup here with mostly same hardware / distro as you
pkt: that is why I asked
soreau: vt switching is broken atm. Instead of switching to tty it goes to a 'frozen' fedora boot up screen
soreau: and I also need to update, so after that I'll test suspend
pkt: that would be great if you can test it :)
spstarr_work: airlied: happy easter ;-)
soreau: pkt: I just tried suspend and it is working here as expected
soreau: also, tty switching works again
soreau: just finished updating to 2.6.29.1-68.fc11.i686.PAE
soreau: tests some 3d stuff
pkt: soreau: I guest I 'm just unlucky then
pkt: s/guest/guess
glisse: waaaaooouu i got gpu reset working reliably :)
glisse: now i reset my x1950 every 500ms
glisse: and it lockups in btw
agd5f: glisse: nice!
agd5f: what fixed it?
glisse: basicly i loop reset until rbbm report ga/vap idle
glisse: agd5f: code is in my repo
glisse: r300.c
glisse: ga_reset
glisse: now i need to find why this x1950 lockup
glisse: at least i don't have to reboot :)
DanaG: glisse: do you have another of the same card to test?
DanaG: When I first got my laptop, I kept getting ASIC hangs with fglrx... and finally figured out that the GPU was defective.
glisse: DanaG: my card is fine
glisse: works with others drivers
DanaG: ah. cool.
lucxxx: hy all
lucxxx: agdf is?
lucxxx: agdrf is?
lucxxx: agd5f is?
agd5f: lucxxx: yes?
lucxxx: you helpt me last time with tv out
lucxxx: i have an hd48500, drm form kernel linux-2.6.30
lucxxx: and last driver from git
lucxxx: xf86-video-ati
nanonyme: One less 0, I suspect. :)
lucxxx: the problem is switching
nanonyme: (Or digit anyway)
lucxxx: if i switctch to console, on my lcd monitor i have aout of frqency but on my tv is ok
lucxxx: an is ok "on tv" even if i switch back
lucxxx: but on monitor i have aout of frequency
lucxxx: and it came to normal afther restart
lucxxx: can you fix this bug?
lucxxx: i use analog tv
lucxxx: with tv out
lucxxx: composite out
Tatsh: i have my laptop hooked up to an external display
Tatsh: it figures out the resolution of my display correctly but every program in X wants to utilise only 1280x800 of space starting from top-left
Tatsh: so while the windows take up the entire screen space, they aren't being told the actual resolution of the screen; KDE options still say 1280x800
bpaterni: cpu usage jumps to ~%100 when viewing dvb content with mplayer
bpaterni: and after a few seconds the video gets quite laggy and eventually freezes
bpaterni: is this something I can fix with a config modification or because the development of radeon
MostAwesomeDude: bpaterni: Which card?
bpaterni: HD 2600XT [rv630]
agd5f: bpaterni: are you using Xv?
bpaterni: yes, this is with -vo xv. If I switch back to x11, lag isn't a problem, but audio/video become out of sync
bpaterni: -vo x11 performed okay on kernel 2.6.29-rc8 so it might be something broken in kernel drm
agd5f: bpaterni: do you have Xv enabled properly? it requires an updated drm
agd5f: you need 2.6.30 or the r6xx-r7xx-support branch of mesa/drm on fdo
bpaterni: I'm on 2.6.30-rc1 right now
bpaterni: Xorg.0.log --- "page flipping disabled on r5xx and newer chips" "will try to use DMA for Xv image transfers"
bpaterni: ... I take it page flipping is not implemented yet
spstarr: airlied: I hope you and family had a good Easter (even though I'm a jew) Happy Easter :)
spstarr: looks around for airlied
DanaG: hah, if you thought bashisms were bad, check this out: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.lugmen.org.ar/pipermail/lug-electronica/2008-September/000938.html&ei=vv7jSfDNHJu6sgPP6pypCQ&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3D%2522Product%2Bis%2Bnot%2Bsupported%2Bon%2BLinux%2Bi686%2Bplatform.%2522%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dcom.ubuntu:en-US:unofficial%26hs%3DJ2t%26sa%3DG
spstarr: ugh

DanaG: ... and supposedly they use this tool in the industry.
