rx__: airlied; did the dupe reg patch get lost?
airlied: rx__: oh I have it somewhere.. I'll get to it at some pont :)
rx__: oh okay.. just checking :)
rx__: can someone give me a crash course on how to install radeon modesetting?
rx__: incl. configuration changes..
airlied: rx__: what configuration? it doesn't work with X yet..
airlied: rx__: well Xfbdev might
rx__: that's what i was looking for..
rx__: i just checked dri-devel log.. fbdev :)
rx__: thanks
mgim: i still dont get how i pull this ati_6_6_3 driver from git
OipOS: Hmm? You can't download the source package from one of the xorg mirrors?
mgim: I'm trying to go back
mgim: and get the older drivers
OipOS: http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/individual/driver/xf86-video-ati-6.6.3.tar.bz2 ?
mgim: is it available somewhere else
mgim: tits.
mgim: ty
OipOS: from 6.5.7.3 to 6.7.196 is there.
mgim: agd5f: i tried ati_6_6_3 and that did not help
mgim: same problem
agd5f: mgim: hmmm... may be hw.
mgim: agd5f: not sure.. it was working correctly on redhat 7.3
agd5f: 7.3 is ancient
agd5f: mgim: you could try and figure out what they used in 7.3 and try that
agd5f: mgim: does messing with xgamma fix the colors?
rx__: hm.. new ati driver
rx__: er fglrx
agd5f: rx__: getting ready to roll a release
rx__: are you involved in fglrx at all?
agd5f: no
rx__: oh
agd5f: rx__: I thought you were talking about the open driver
rx__: yeah sorry ;)
mgim: agd5f: havnet messed with that yet
mgim: will do tomorrow
agd5f: mgim: let me know ho wit goes
arekm: fetching new driver
agd5f: released!
airlied: agd5f: woot.. :)
airlied: agd5f: can I merge ;-P
agd5f: go for it :)
airlied: woot pushed..
airlied: now I have to beat the drm patches into shape..
arekm: wonders why git puts Conflicts: fileX filey... into commit message
arekm: merge commit message
airlied: arekm: just information on what merged cleanly what didn't.
arekm: but if forces user to fix conflicts before commit right?
arekm: s/if/it/
arekm: doesn't build for me :P
airlied: arekm: oops :)
arekm: radeon_bios.c:162: error: 'AtomBiosArgRec' undeclared (first use in this function)
airlied: arekm: re-run autoconf
airlied: or autogen.sh
arekm: btw, is xf86_crtc_clip_video_helper from xserver 1.5?
airlied: I think its in 1.4
arekm: and does configure check work for you?
airlied: it breaks later then..
arekm: http://pld.pastebin.com/f15b52cb3
airlied: its busts one some other include breking..
airlied: arekm: fixed the clip handler in master
agd5f: d'oh! 6.7.197 will probably need that too
airlied: agd5f: it'll just never use the server one..
airlied: agd5f: no big loss :)
agd5f: :)
math_b: xf86ModeBandwidth configure check is also broken for me
airlied: math_b: I'm getting to it :)
math_b: adding #include"xorg-server.h" in the AC_CHECK_DECL worked here
airlied: math_b: done.
math_b: airlied: pulled and testing, thanks !
rx__: woohoo new driver :)
rx__: and atombios merge.. niiice
umtc: has zaphod mode been merged into 6.7.197?
rx__: i don't think so
rx__: wait
umtc: i know it's been programmed back in, but not whether it's been merged into the mainline driver
rx__: it's not
rx__: it's in git post 6.7.197
rx__: rephrases
rx__: zaphod has been merged into master but after the 6.7.197 release
umtc: thank you, i'll wait for .198
rx__: no prob :)
umtc: tvout on radeon 7000 works fine with the new version
umtc: when the new version comes out, i'll be able to choose between dvi/vga, dvi/svideo, and dvi/dri all without swapping driver versions
umtc: the commands were correct, it looks like i have to poweron the card with a cable connected before it will actually display anything on the tvout
umtc: the position/size of the svideo (actually composite output), is that controllable via the modeline/xvidtune, just like a crt monitor?
lelik: guys. thanks for your hard work. Is there XV support for 690 chipsets in current git branch?
dli: lelik, I heard they are waiting for specs from amd
dli: lelik, not this year
lelik: sad to hear that..
lelik: thanks for the answer..
dli: lelik, my suggestion is to sell your ati system (or the card itself), not much hope here
lelik: :-) I want MB with integrated TV-OUT and HDMI..
lelik: there no product on the market, except ASUS m2a-hdmi..
dli: lelik, why not get intel!!!
lelik: cause, money already spent :-))
lelik: hehe..
lelik: huge mistake, but..
dli: I see, another ati victim
lelik: I knew it, but asus stoped to sell M2N (nvidia based MB)..
dli: lelik, hope you didn't get amd cpu also, that would contribute to casualties also
lelik: I was late only for several weeks,
lelik: I got athlon 64fx2
lelik: :-))
dli: lelik, total amd victim then
lelik: shoot me out :-)
lelik: btw: can I use vidix with current git tree?
lelik: now I have to use vesa drivers.. It's my HTPC system.
dli: lelik, I think you can only use x11 level acceleration
lelik: sounds bad :-(
dli: lelik, I think the git tree will work for you, I remember seeing some commits for your card
dli: lelik, much better than vesa
lelik: yeah,, I read news, that atombios was merge to mainline..
lelik: maybe I'll try to buy simple NV card with tvout. this could be solutoin..
agd5f: dli: why is amd a bad decision? We are working on full support. it won't happen overnight
Sir_Lewk: I read today on Phoronix that the radeon driver now supports the r500 and r600 cards
Sir_Lewk: does this include dri?
Magnade: doubt it
agd5f: Sir_Lewk: not 3D. just 2D via the CP right now
Sir_Lewk: oh well, one can wish :)
agd5f: Sir_Lewk: soon. we are working on getting the 3D stuff released
rx__: and it's 2d only for r500, right?
agd5f: rx__: yes
agd5f: at the moment
rx__: 2d/3d docs.. man i can't wait
rx__: and the video docs following that
