bigon: is it normal that dual screen configuration has a huge perfomance hit on my laptop (mobility 9700)?
adamk: Performance hit in what? 2D, 3D games, compiz, etc? I haven't tried on that specific GPU, but I've run dualhead on a 9550 without any noticeable problems.
bigon: switching from windows/worskpace and getting focus on another window on the other display (metacity compositing is enabled)
MrCooper: agd5f: so, should I push the RepeadPad/Reflect acceleration change? Ideally the source tile stuff should be extended to handle RepeatReflect as well, but I guess that can be done later
agd5f: MrCooper: go for it
MrCooper: bigon: you're probably exceeding the 3D engine coordinate limit of 2560
bigon: mmm Virtual 3320 1200 too much I guess
glisse: bigon: yup such kind of card was never designed to drive such big resolution
agd5f: well, it would work if each screen was a separate surface
adamk: Ahhh, that makes sense. I never went beyond 2560x1024
jcristau: agd5f: 10 years from now shatter will have fixed that ;)
MrCooper: bigon: if you mean the xorg.conf Virtual, that doesn't matter directly, the current screen size reported by xrandr does
agd5f: MrCooper: do you haev a patch in mind for the sourcetile stuff? Wouldn't it be pretty much the same as repeatnormal?
MrCooper: yeah, just need to keep flipping direction
MrCooper: I just don't have time nor interest to do it right now
agd5f: MrCooper: where is the direction specified?
MrCooper: in RadeonComposite I guess
agd5f: MrCooper: migt as well push it. If I have time I may look at the sourcetile stuff, but I doubt I'll have time in the near future
MrCooper: yeah, I doubt RepeatReflect will be used a lot in practice anyway :)
StR|Sangreal: hola! i have installed kubuntu intrepid on my centrino duo machine and my videocard is ATI radeon mobility X1450; please, could sb help me to set up graphic acceleration?
adamk: StR|Sangreal: You should have acceleration without having to do anything.
adamk: StR|Sangreal: If you do not think it's working properly, go to http://pastebin.com/ and paste in your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.
StR|Sangreal: i dont get any picture when playing video
StR|Sangreal: and when kde starts, for short moments the screen turns into e.g. green stripes or other patterns signalizing that sth is bad
StR|Sangreal: and actually my right border of the display flickers
adamk: As I said, if it's not working properly, go to http://pastebin.com/ and paste in your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.
betzi: hi. how do i find out version number of radeon driver? opensuse pkg have strange version numbers e.g. like xorg-x11-driver-video | package | 7.4-19.4?
StR|Sangreal: http://pastebin.com/m1d0ae398
StR|Sangreal: here is the log
jcristau: betzi: the version number of the driver should show up in the X log
jcristau: betzi: maybe also in the suse package's changelog, if there's such a thing..
betzi: Module radeon: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
betzi: compiled for 1.5.2, module version = 4.3.0
betzi: can that be? isnt it something like 6.xx something nowadays?
adamk: betzi: It is now up to 6.10.0. Apparently opensuse is shipping something old.
adamk: StR|Sangreal: There are a number of "Query for AtomBIOS Get Panel EDID: failed" errors.
adamk: But I do not know if that is the source of your problems.
jcristau: betzi: up until recently the version only showed up if you loaded "ati", the version for radeon was bogus
jcristau: adamk: ^^
adamk: Hopefuly someone more familiar with debugging these types of driver problems can see what's going on.
adamk: jcristau: Ahhh, thanks./
betzi: ok thx
betzi: i loaded ati and now I see version number 6.9.0
betzi: thx
gustaf1: how well does the modesetting-gem branch of drm work? is it working well on r500?
dreamer: hi all, I'm having trouble getting higher resolution than 800x600 on my Mobility M6 LY
hifi: RS690 and 1080p works together fine, yay
dreamer: hmm, I'm really not able to get 1024x768 working on this laptop, I've added the mode specifically to xorg.conf but I can only get 800x600
spstarr_work:
spstarr_work: sometimes
adamk: dreamer: Use a serivce like http://pastebin.com/ to show us your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log files.

said: hi guys! I'm still trying to get the best from my radeon 9200 pro and kde 4.2.. any advice?
adamk: said: DIdn't you recently ask that question and get answers?
adamk:
said: adamk: yes I do, but I'm not satisfied with the results, so I'm looking for others people with my problem
adamk: said: As I recall, you heard back from two of the primary developers of the driver... I'm not sure you're gonna get any better advice.
said: adamk: I don't know who they were, surely experts
said: adamk: I just like to talk with someone who's testing these drivers with kde 4.2 to compare results and establish the best configuration
GerbilSoft: hm
GerbilSoft: some recent commit appears to have broken my second monitor
GerbilSoft: i'll attempt to bisect it in a bit
Honk: heya, what does "mostly" in the feature matrix for tv-out with the radeon driver mean? =)
rx__: probably means works at some fixed res
rx__: 800x600
Honk: that'd be great ;P
Honk: is there any description on how to make it work in ubuntu 8.10? =)
Honk: xrandr doesnt show any s-video output :|
Honk: ah whatever, I can use fglrx for the few days that I need tv-out ;)
airlied: Honk: what GPU?
